Dear ProAgri Africa readers,

The arrival of winter always brings a special atmosphere to agriculture. Across Africa, fields are being harvested, livestock are receiving extra attention during the colder months, and farmers are already preparing for the next season. It is a busy but exciting time on the agricultural calendar. Winter has always been one of my favourite seasons, perhaps because it reminds us that every season in agriculture carries its own purpose and promise.

As we move into the second half of the year, one cannot help but feel excited about the future of agriculture. Everywhere we go, we see improvements, innovation and greater involvement across the industry. New technologies, smarter farming methods and modern solutions continue to reshape the way agriculture is done. Being part of these discussions and witnessing these developments firsthand makes one optimistic about what lies ahead for African agriculture.

Have you ever stopped to think what farming may look like in the next 30 years? How will producers farm, harvest and manage livestock? What technologies will become part of everyday farming life? Although none of us can adequately predict the future, one thing remains certain: agriculture will always be there, always continue to evolve, and farmers will continue to adapt, innovate and feed the continent. This month’s edition once again highlights the people, companies and technologies helping to drive agriculture forward. On our cover, we feature the reliable Massey Ferguson 5M tractor range.

We are also proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone with Tiger Animal Feeds Zambia as they commemorate 30 years of serving farmers and communities in Zambia. Their legacy, commitment and contribution to the agricultural sector continue to enrich lives and strengthen the industry. In this edition, we also explore an important story from Uganda focusing on women working in the pig sector, and how challenging prejudice and breaking barriers can unlock new opportunities within agriculture.
