As the first rains bless the soil across many parts of Africa, there’s a renewed sense of hope and anticipation in the air. For most of our farmers, planting season is well underway, a time when long hours, careful planning, and faith comes together. Whether you’re planting maize in Zambia or tending to beans in Tanzania we wish each of you a successful and prosperous season ahead. May your efforts yield abundance, and may the weather be ever in your favour.
In this edition, we bring you some highlights from the Mazabuka Agricultural Expo 2025, which took place in Zambia. This event continues to serve as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration.
Our cover story features FAW Trucks and their expanding footprint across Africa. With a strong focus on reliability, performance, and aftersales support, FAW continues to prove itself as a trusted partner for farmers and businesses alike. Their growing presence on the continent speaks to the shared vision of progress and empowerment that drives African industries forward.
We also highlight remarkable innovation from Namibia, where NamSnails has successfully exported its first shipment of live snails to South Africa, a pioneering milestone for the continent’s aquaculture industry. Their fully climatecontrolled farming system near Swakopmund marks a new chapter in sustainable protein production. Read more about this fascinating project on page 22.
And in our news section, we hare insights from a recent Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report revealing that Africa’s agriculture holds the key to achieving nearly half of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Yet, the sector still faces a critical funding gap, a reminder that investment in African agriculture is not just
necessary, but urgent.
As we move deeper into the planting season, may your fields thrive and your hard work bear exceptional fruit. At ProAgri Africa, we remain dedicated to sharing your stories, the ones that shape our continent’s agricultural heartbeat.
