As jy met beeste wil boer, doen jy dit nie net vir die liefde van die saak nie; jy moet geld verdien. As jy elke bees as ’n belegging van R10 000 beskou, dan moet sy vir jou ’n opbrengs gee. As jy dus ’n kalf van R4 000 speen, en die koste om haar aan te hou is R2 500, het jy R1 500 verdien. Dit is 15% opbrengs op jou belegging. Jy kon dalk by die bank 5% gekry het, dus is jy 10% beter af vir jou risiko.
