Thousands of farmers all over the world trust Timac Agro for lucrative, sustainable plant and animal production. Timac Agro not merely delivers the product on the farm and then does a disappearing trick. “Our aim is to accompany the farmer step by step on his journey. Our technical marketers do not only build a relationship with the farmer – we understand the farmer and his farm,” says Eloni Ludwick, Timac Agro’s junior business developer.

“We have technical marketers instead of sales representatives. When they visit the farmer for the first time, they take soil samples and discuss the climatic conditions and all other factors to enable them to advise a farmer on a suitable product and frame a practical farming program. They walk through his lands with him and identify problems so that practical, scientific solutions can be suggested. At harvesting time our people accompany the farmer in his combine. They absolutely become part of his operation.”

With their excellent client servicing Timac also provides agricultural products with no mean reputation. Timac’s Managing Director, Jandré van der Westhuizen, was part and parcel of farming for a long time and understands the farmer’s daily struggle to keep head above water. He is keen on agriculture and knows what a farmer has to do to farm profitably. Every product sold by Timac is unique, focussed and technologically driven.

Aimed at the needs of the plant

Timac markets a soil improvement product for plants which contains highly soluble calcium carbonate to optimise fertility of the surface soil and increase the absorbing and availability of plant nutrition products. They also offer liquid plant stress controllers, which can be mixed with glyphosate. Timac Agro’s fertiliser is one of the world’s first inter-active granular fertiliser compositions.

The fertiliser is activated by organic acids secreted by the roots for absorption. The fertiliser consists of standard NPK mixtures. The most important macro elements are then added as dictated by the needs of the plant. “We recently had outstanding success in Tzaneen with our products on avocados and we are extremely excited about it,” says Eloni.

“Standard fertiliser has not really developed over the past number of years and as we do not sell ordinary fertiliser, we really do not have a competitor in the market.”

Animals prosper with Timac

Timac Agro markets two mineral blocks for livestock. Johannes van Vuuren, Technical Marketer for the Eastern Free State, says: “We do not sell a block lick or an ordinary salt lick. Our products are more than merely a mineral lick. It contains macro as well as micro elements, but individually every block contains specific products to strengthen certain aspects of livestock management and feeding; consequently the farmer gets more value for his money, either in weight gain, milk production, increased calving or lambing percentages, improved immunity, and more. Our blocks last longer than the standard variety as it does not disintegrate when it rains and is hard enough so that the animals cannot chew it to pieces. The results we achieve are mind boggling.”

Calseamag+ is a salt-based mineral block which is principally used in feeding lots, as well as for sheep and goats under extensive conditions. It contains a unique patented product, Fix’N, which limits the formation of ammonia in the rumen and consequently reduces ammonia toxicity, while improving formation of phosphorous. The phosphorous is then utilised for muscle development, growth, foetus development and milk production. Growth is canalised towards beef and mutton and away from fat layering. Calseafibre+ is made to fit for extensive cattle production and for game, which tends to eat a great amount of dry material. It contains AMAFERM® technology, which promotes fodder digestion through the seasons, and increases weight gain.

Calseamag+ and Calseafibre+ mineral blocks introduces the next step in focused animal feeding.

Timac Agro’s granulated fertiliser, on its own, is sharp enough to know when it should be released.

Timac Agro recently exhibited their products at the Val Farmers’ Day. Barend van Zyl, Technical Marketer in the Standerton region; Gabbi Joubert, Regional Manager for the Southern Highveld, Eloni Ludwick, Junior Business Developer, and Johannes van Vuuren, Technical Marketer for the Eastern Freestate, were available to assist the farmers with first class advice.
