Twenty years ago, Tyron Munisami started Tye Trans with nothing but a bakkie and a dream. Today, that dream has grown into a thriving transport company – and FAW Trucks Southern Africa is helping him boost his cash flow.
Tyron recalls how, two decades ago, he began transporting cargo using his own bakkie. Starting with small loads, the business gradually expanded to serve corporate clients, eventually landing its first tender with Transnet Engineering. From there, the journey accelerated. Today, Tye Trans operates a fleet of 80 trucks and offers a comprehensive suite of services, including storage, warehousing, container transport, clearing, and shipping.
Teaming up with FAW Trucks Southern Africa
In 2024, Tyron learned about FAW Trucks SA’s impressive fuel efficiency and decided to test one in his fleet. The results spoke for themselves – and he was so impressed that he added three more trucks, and he recently expanded with four additional FAW JH6 28.500FL-AMT trucks configured as tautliners.
“The fuel consumption on these trucks is excellent. I haven’t had any issues, they’re brilliant vehicles. The value they offer, and their fuel efficiency convinced me to invest in four more. These trucks are a real asset to our business and have helped improve our cash flow,” Tyron says.
Despite his success, Tyron still gets behind the wheel himself. He’s particularly impressed with the JH6’s braking system, handling, and road stability.
“I’d say these trucks are proving their worth, both in the market and in my fleet.”

Service with a smile
For his latest fleet additions, Tyron partnered with FAW Durban and Stucky Motors, who handled the full customisation. The striking white and blue design, accented with metallic silver, ensures Tye Trans trucks stand out wherever they go.
Since purchasing his first FAW truck, Tyron says he’s had no difficulties. Servicing is prompt, and the trucks are consistently returned in excellent condition.
“With FAW’s after-sales support and backup, I’ve had no problems. I’ve owned many truck brands over the years, but I’ve now returned to FAW because of the service and value they provide.”

What the future holds
Tyron’s vision for Tye Trans is clear: continued growth and new heights.
“Our name is out there, and we’re attracting interest from major clients. If you don’t look to the skies, you’ll never reach the limits,” he says.
Tyron is deeply grateful to Stucky Motors and their team for their ongoing support, adding that of all the dealerships he’s worked with, they’ve been the best by far. Tyron hopes this partnership with FAW Trucks SA will continue for many years to come.
