ELB Equipment showcases Powerscreen and LiuGong at NAMPO

NAM06132
ELB Equipment once again made a strong impression at NAMPO, proudly showcasing their Powerscreen and LiuGong machinery. For decades, ELB has built its reputation on strategic partnerships and leading global brands, and this year’s exhibition highlighted just how significant these relationships have become for their customer base across South Africa.
30 Years of partnership with Powerscreen
While Powerscreen celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, ELB Equipment marks 30 years of partnership with the brand. During that time, Powerscreen machines have become a cornerstone in South Africa’s mining, quarrying and recycling industries. The collaboration has not only brought world-class equipment into the local market but also fostered a mutual relationship of trust and support.
Wakefield Harding, Divisional Director for Mining at ELB Equipment, emphasised the strength of this bond: “The support we get from Powerscreen has led to a mutual relationship where both companies can thrive. Powerscreen and ELB are South African market leaders, and this combination is the perfect recipe for growth.” He added that the recognition of being named Powerscreen’s Global Dealer of the Year in 2025 was a testament to ELB’s commitment to excellence.
Among the standout machines is the Warrior 2100, the third-largest scalper in Powerscreen’s fleet. With its triple shaft mechanism, it delivers up to 40% more production in certain applications, making it suitable for small-, medium- and large-scale mining operations.
JP du Randt, Divisional Sales Manager for Mining at ELB, explained: “If you are looking for the lowest cost per tonne and big volumes, the Powerscreen Warrior 2100 is definitely the machine for you.”
Customer success with Powerscreen
The impact of Powerscreen equipment on ELB’s customers is evident in their stories. JC Janse van Vuuren of Groundbreakers Construction recalls how their first Warrior 800 screen from ELB in 2016 transformed their business: “Starting with the Warrior 800 screen basically put us in the game. It was a very robust, powerful machine that helped the success of the company. Our relationship with ELB has been magnificent, they’ve become like family.”
Similarly, Lion Park Quarries has relied on Powerscreen machines for over 30 years. Johan Meintjies, who now leads the family business, shared: “Powerscreen has been fundamental in the growth of our business. ELB’s knowledge and technical advice have been crucial as we’ve taken the company forward from one generation to the next. I see them more as friends or family rather than just an equipment supplier.”
These testimonials underscore how ELB’s partnership with Powerscreen has not only delivered reliable machinery but also built lasting relationships that drive customer success.
Partnering with LiuGong, a strategic move into the future
In 2024, ELB Equipment partnered with LiuGong, a decision that has already proven transformative. With the rise of Chinese brands across industries, ELB recognised the opportunity to align with a manufacturer that offers both scale and quality.
Desmond van Heerden, CEO of ELB Equipment, explained: “We found that our numbers and volumes have increased, and we chose the right brand. The quality is exceptional, and the range of equipment allows us to cover every area of the market.”
From small construction machines to large-scale mining equipment, LiuGong’s range has enabled ELB to expand its footprint. Trials with 100-tonne dump trucks and 135-tonne excavators signal their entry into the big mining segment, while lower warranty claims highlight the brand’s reliability. Importantly, ELB has invested heavily in aftermarket support, ensuring that customers receive comprehensive service and spare parts availability.
Keon Kardolus, Divisional Director at ELB, highlighted LiuGong’s pioneering role in electrification: “LiuGong has been at the forefront of battery electric vehicles since 2016. With their experience, we felt confident that now is the right time to introduce electric earthmoving machines into the South African market. LiuGong’s full BEV offering gives us a competitive advantage and supports the concept of green, net-zero emissions for mines.”

A future built on strong partnerships
ELB Equipment’s showcase at NAMPO was more than a display of machinery, it was a celebration of enduring partnerships and forward-looking strategies. Powerscreen continues to provide the backbone of reliable crushing and screening solutions, while LiuGong opens new doors with its expansive range and innovative electrification technology. Together, these brands strengthen ELB’s position as a trusted partner for South African industries.
