BEEF

Live Weaner R39.87 PER KG (LIVE)

Market feel:

Demand is staying on a higher level which is supporting prices that remain relatively stable on a higher level. However, weaner prices increased the past week due to higher demand and higher slaughter prices. It is expected that this price can trend sideways over the short term and gain some support in December again. A and C grade prices can remain on a sideways/upward trends we move towards the end of the year.

Weaners

– The price is 0.31% higher compared to the previous week, 4.43%higher than a month ago and 8.98% higher than last year the same time. Basedon historic trends, the price can trend downward over the coming week.

A2/3

– The price is 0.16% lower compared to the previous week, 2.95% higherthan a month ago and 7.25% higher than last year the same time. Based onhistoric trends, the price can trend upward over the coming week.

C2/3

– The price is 0.34% higher compared to the previous week, 1.55% higherthan a month ago and 6.39% higher than last year the same time. Based onhistoric trends, the price can trend upward over the coming week.

Market feel:

There is less resistance from consumers at the moment, which resulted in theslaughter prices to increase. Supply of lambs are currently very low and increasedwith higher demand from consumers and feedlots driving this price upward.Lamb prices can move sideways while slaughter prices are likely to increase as wemove towards the end of the year.

Lambs – The price is 1.87% higher compared to the previous week, 4.46% higherthan a month ago and 8.97% higher than last year the same time. Based onhistoric trends, the price can trend downward over the coming week.
