In an unusual move the minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Thoko Didiza condemned the triple murder in Magogong, outside Hartswater in the Northern Cape. The three victims were allegedly attacked by three suspects.

Here is her statement:

The Minister applauds the swift response by the South African Police Service who arrested the three suspects that allegedly robbed, kidnapped and murdered the victims.  

The Minister said the arrest will bring confidence to our justice system and send a strong message to criminals that there is no place for criminal activities in our country.

“On behalf of the agricultural sector I wish convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the victims” remarked Minister Didiza.

The Minister would like to call on all stakeholders in the sector to remain alert and vigilant against farm attacks and killings as they negatively affect food security and food production.
