Molatek Wool Master is not only high in nutritional value, but it is also so tasty that the sheep do not even budge when the camera lens is right in their face while they feast.

An animal only performs to the level of the quality feed the farmer gives it. This is a lesson learnt by Lood de Jager, and that is why he prefers Molatek Wool Master for his sheep. Lood farms on the Uitkomst Estate near Ermelo. “It is a family farm with among others a Dohne Merino sheep flock numbering about 3 000 ewes. My family has been working this farm for the past 140 years,” says Lood.

Molatek Wool Master is a production lick. Lood makes feeds it his ewes in the gestation period from four weeks before lambing. It can also be used as a stimulating additive. The rams get access to it to boost their condition before servicing the ewes. With the ewes it underpins udder development, enabling the ewes to produce more milk and raise healthy, sturdy their lambs.

“It further promotes healthy foetus development and after lambing promotes quicker healing of the womb back to normal. I also use it for my replacement animals. I feed Wool Master from weaning time up to the next winter,” says Lood.

“All these characteristics of the Molatek Wool Master lick are due to the high protein content ingested by the animal. The feed contains 300 g/kg protein. Consequently it is safe to use it as a reliable maintenance and production feed, or as full feed mix.”

It is recommended to feed 300-500 gram per animal per day. Greedy eaters are inhibited by the salt content. “A sheep cannot just stand and eat non-stop, pushing the other animals away. After a few mouthfuls the ewe stops eating and visits the water trough before coming back to eat again,” indicates Lood as the animals come and go.

Tobie Alexander of RCL Foods Ermelo is just as happy as Lood de Jager (and Lood junior) of Uitkomst Estate with the condition of the sheep in the background, the result of being groomed on Molatek Wool Master lick.

Lood also has a good word for Tobie Alexander of the RCL Foods Ermelo branch: “When comparing prices it is almost the same as those of other suppliers but we were convinced by the excellent service received from RCL Ermelo,” says Lood.

The RCL product has been used on the Uitkomst Estate for the past five years to keep their sheep in tip-top shape. Lood explains that it is a safe product to feed. There is no risk that the feed’s content could perhaps be mixed in a wrong ratio, such as when the mixing is undertaken on the farm. He says it just makes more sense to use the ready product and prevent accidents.

The versatility of Wool Master helps farmers right through the year to improve the condition of their sheep. It not only boosts milk production, but also prevents weight loss while enhancing foetus and udder development. It also increases conception and weaning percentages. Furthermore it can be utilised as a maintenance lick, production lick or a full feed mix.

Healthy udder development is a characteristic of ewes fed on Molatek’s Wool Master animal feed.
